Today we had very special visitors at our school. Firefighters came to speak to the children about getting firewise. They talked about what to do if there is a fire and how to prevent fires. They also talked about the importance of having a smoke alarm. Afterwards the children looked at the fire engine and the firefighters showed some of their tools. They were very interested and had a great time while learning important skills.
Welcome!

Making Pizza! Yum!
This week the children in Room 1 and 2 worked together to make pizza! Yum!
The children have been learning about fractions and making pizzas and cutting them into equal slices was a great way to practice what they are learning about.
We made four pizzas and we needed a total of 32 slices. In order to work out how many slices the pizzas had to be cut into the children got into four groups - one for each pizza. When each group had the equal number of 8 children they knew that each pizza had to be cut into 8 slices.
Making pizza was a great learning experience. The children really enjoyed making it, and of course eating it too !:)

Fun at the cross-country race
The children in Room 1 did a fantastic job last Friday running at our cross-country race!
The children practiced during the whole week and they were learning the difference between jogging and sprinting. They tried very hard to jog so that they could save some energy to sprint at the end and perhaps win the race. Ka pai!

Good Shepherd School Charism
At the start of the term, room 1 learnt about our school Charism. We are called 'Good Shepherd School' and our Good Shepherd is Jesus. We learnt that we need to be like sheep and follow Jesus.
We talked about what kind of things we could do to be like Jesus and we came up with ideas like being kind, caring, respectful and making good choices.
We read the story in the Bible called "The Lost Sheep" and did a play about it. We then decorated a picture of a sheep with wool and put our faces on it to make it look like we are the sheep following Jesus.
We are trying our best everyday to follow our Good Shepherd.
