Holy Week

Room 1 have been learning a poem throughout the Lenten season! The Easter Rhyme sums up everything we are learning about Lent, Holy Week and Easter. It takes us on a journey with our friend Jesus, trying to be more and more like him everyday. We cannot wait to perform it at Room 1's assembly on Friday 13th, Week 11 (the last day of school).

Water Safety

Room 1 have been learning about water safety in conjunction with being sun smart. The children have enjoyed learning about what a 'safe entry' into the water is, and why we use it to get in any type of water. We have also been learning how to float and doggy paddle in order to stay safe if we were to ever be in trouble in the water! This week we got to try on life jackets, learning how to make sure they are on properly when we are on a boat or participating in water sport activities.

Light it Orange!

Good Shepherd School managed to raise $256.60 for families who are experiencing family violence. Room 1 shone on Friday with a touch of the colour orange! We will always keep this special New Zealand charity in our prayers for all the wonderful work they do.

We are friends of Jesus-Room 1 Jesus Meal

Room 1 have been learning about Jesus-where he lived, what he did for fun, what he ate and some of the marvelous things he did with his friends. We dressed as people from Palestine were Jesus lived, and shared in a meal that Jesus would have eaten-bread, olives, dried fruit and humus! We are trying to live out the way that Jesus lived by our actions towards others: what would Jesus want us to do?
