St Joseph's Day & the Twelve Disciples

Room 1 have had a great week learning about how Jesus chose his 12 helpers-the Twelve Disciples. This is a very important Gospel as it then leads into the many gospels of Jesus's miracles. As we move into the last weeks of school we will be focusing on Palm Sunday, The Last Supper and the Stations of the Cross. We really enjoyed making a mural of the Gospel and will make one for each gospel leading up to Easter.
We celebrated St Joseph's Day with tabloid sports which was so much fun! We read about the life of Joseph and his special role within the Holy Family.

Swimming and Easter Rhyme

Room 1 had a great time displaying all that we have been learning at swimming time. Thank you to all the parents who came and watched! We have been learning about water safety, especially the most important thing that we need to be able to do in a pool, river or ocean-FLOAT!
For our poem this week we did the Easter Rhyme. We have also been using it in our prayers as it tells the story of when Jesus died on Good Friday and rose again on Easter Sunday. We hope you enjoy reading it together at home!

Beginning of Lent

The Liturgical Year of Lent has been a major focus for the week-we celebrated Shrove Tuesday by making pancakes with Room 5. We made pancakes because we remember when people used to give up eating sweet things like cakes-so they cleaned out their cupboards by making pancakes. We also watched as last year’s palms be burned- this is how ashes are made. Wednesday was the first day of Lent. We began our day by attending Mass and receiving the Ashes from the palms on our forehead. We were thinking of promises all week that we will keep for the forty days of Lent. We wrote about these during writing and put them on our promise feet so that we can remember every day what we promised to Jesus. We have also started learning the song ‘L-O-V-E’ by Jill Kemp in lead up to Easter.
